Hyaluronic Acid is one of those ingredients that I think pretty much any skin type can benefit from and always make sure my AM and PM routine includes it. It’s great for dry skin, but if you’re prone to dehydrated skin thanks to using products to fight spots, it’ll be a godsend for you too. I have a bit of a long-term obsession with Peter Thomas Roth products as I think they’re a range that often offers something quite different, in a market that’s pretty heavily saturated with skincare innovation already, so credit where it’s due! I’ve been trying two newer products from the line, the Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Serum and the matching Cream Hydrating Moisturiser.
The Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Serum glides on to provide a great hit of hydration that doesn’t feel heavy or “siliconey,” but it also makes a big difference to the way skin feels, ensuring it’s left looking and feeling plump, soft, hydrated and calm. I’ve tried using it under other hydrating products with varying degrees of success, as I found it was prone to pilling, but I didn’t leave long between each stage so I can’t say for sure if a little tweaking wouldn’t make a difference. I do, however, prefer using this in the evening to give my skin an overnight drink of hydration and I’ve found it works really well alongside spot treatments, both under and over. It’s £52 here – link.
The Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream Hydrating Moisturiser is probably my favourite of the two, although it’s a close call! This is a light cream in a gel formula that feels amazing on the skin – it has the feel of a really silky primer, but I often find products like that are often not hydrating enough, whereas this really does penetrate to give skin that bounciness that’s so hard to achieve without the use of very heavy products that leave a greasy film. I jumped into using this so eagerly and slathered it on both day and night, which unfortunately broke me out a little (nothing terrible) so I’m instead using this a few times a week for an intense hit of hydration. Having said that, my skin is mental and reacts to the weirdest things – I’ve yet to find another example of someone breaking out with this so please don’t let my crazy skin put you off! The cream hasn’t launched yet so I don’t have any further info, but I’ll update as soon as I do.
