NOTD: In the Blue

I mentioned on Twitter a little while ago how much I’m loving blue nails at the moment, so this look is very much an homage to that! I was recently sent Orly’s Shockwave which is part of the Electronica range, and whilst I’m not normally one for copying images from press releases, I really liked the fact that each of the four colours in the range have been carefully matched to colour trends from the SS12 catwalks. Anyway! Back to my NOTD. I used two coats of Shockwave on eight of my nails and one coat of 2True’s Fast Dry Colour Quick polish in Shade 2 with two coats of Nails Inc’s Royal Arcade Nail Jewellery as an accent on my ring fingers.

Shockwave is a brilliant navy (ironically, it’s exactly what I was hoping for in Orly’s Charged Up) that goes pretty much opaque after one coat, but benefits from a second coat for a clean finish. It definitely falls into the navy colour spectrum, but it’s kind of a light version of navy. It’s a really lovely blue that I’m very happy to have in my collection as I’ve been hunting for a decent navy for a while.

2True’s Shade 2 goes completely opaque in one coat and dries seriously quickly. The shade is a strong, sky blue that has a brightness about it without being too in-your-face. I’m really impressed with both the texture and finish of this polish and I’m quite astounded that it retails for £1.99.

I’ve been gagging to find a way to involve Royal Arcade in a NOTD post so I’m very happy to have finally achieved it! As seems to be the case with all the Nail Jewellery polishes, the finish is exciting, vibrant and after two coats creates an almost foil like effect. Both Shade 2 and Royal Arcade harmonise beautifully, and adding Royal Arcade made, I feel, the finish of the whole look really pop, so I am currently loving my blue nails.
