Garnier BB Miracle Skin Perfector Oil Free

As with their original formula, there are two shades available: light and medium.  I purchased the light one and started using it properly today.  I was a little worried about how my skin would handle this oil-free variant as my skin is so incredibly combination that I thought this might cause problems on the dry areas.  Thankfully, texturally it’s actually pretty good and doesn’t make dry areas appear any dryer or flake at all.

The coverage of this is excellent and possibly the highest coverage BB Cream I’ve tried to date.  I use a beauty blender to ‘bounce’ it on (as I do with all BB Creams – I just find it to be the best way to get even coverage) and this can be built up to pretty impressive coverage that comfortably rivals a medium to high coverage foundation.  The consistency is slightly thinner than I’m used to and you do need more to achieve an even coverage, but that isn’t a big issue.  

So far it’s sounding pretty good, right?  I would happily agree with you apart from one significant issue which is that the shade is unbelievably orange!  Once I was finished applying it, I was quite horrified by just how orange my face looked in comparison to my neck.  I’m a pedant when it comes to shade matching and I really don’t like anything that looks too different to my natural skin tone, so there’s a chance I might be being dramatic and certainly nobody I came into contact with today mentioned what I believed to be a slightly tangoed appearance, but it’s definitely a big draw back.

Annoyingly, this is a pretty perfect BB Cream apart from the shade issue.  The longevity was phenomenal and as the day went on and the product started to be put to test, instead of allowing the grease to start shining through, the look my skin developed was a slight glow which is a far cry from the usual oil slick.  The coverage stayed steadfast and even now, 9 or so hours after application it’s still looking very good.  It does seem to appear less orange now, so maybe it needs a bit of breathing time to adjust?  

I’m certainly not ready to give up on this BB Cream just yet, although if I don’t find a way to stop the orangeness then it will be something I have to sadly put aside.  The last noteworthy comment I’ll make is that both the original and oil-free versions cost £9.99, yet the original contains 50ml of product, whereas this one contains 40ml.  No idea why that is but I thought I’d mention it anyway, especially as I’ve found I use more of this during one application than I do other BB Creams.   Available at all the usual retailers including Boots.
