I received some lovely new Real Techniques launches a couple of months ago, so I’m a little late to the party with sharing my review; knowing Real Techniques there’ll be a load more new launches already (and maybe their Christmas launches – gotta love the RT Christmas gifts!) so whilst these are all quite new releases, I’ve listed them as part of the Summer 2019 line-up just in case. There’s a lot, and lots of pictures to go with it, so settle in and check out what’s new from Real Techniques.
There’s a new sponge joining the line-up and it’s for anyone who’s a fan of baking, or who likes to finish their look with a pressing of powder. The Powder Sponge (£6.99) is a little more porous and dense, making it ideal for powder application, and as the shape is the same as the original Miracle Sponge, it’s designed to get into every nook and cranny.
If you like to take your sponge on your travels, there’s a Premium Sponge Case (£7.99) designed to keep any of the typical sized Miracle Sponges safe and in-shape, whilst also giving them enough air to circulate so they don’t get manky or damp.
Next up is the Brush Cleansing Palette (£12.99) which is such a handy tool to help with removing all the make-up and grime from brushes. You use it to kind of aggravate the bristles so you can get right into the base and remove every last bit. It’s very useful, especially for large base brushes that need that additional elbow grease.
There are two new kabuki-style brushes, the Foundation Blender (£12.99) and the Face and Body Blender (£14.99) and I was very excited to get my hands on these as I think a dense brush is one of the easiest ways to apply foundation quickly when you’re in a hurry. I haven’t tried the body brush, although I think it’d be great for applying fake tan or even body cream if you don’t like to get your hands greasy, but I have tried the Foundation Blender and it’s every bit as brilliant as I had hoped for – comfortable to use, works foundation in really well with very minimal effort.
The original Brush Crush range was a very exciting launch, so now we’re on to our third instalment of the Brush Crush range, the Brush Crush Reignite range, which so far contains five individual brushes and I have four to show you. These are what I call “fancy budget” as they’re mid range with their price point, but in return for a few more pounds, you get the prettiest looking brushes that really deliver.
002 – the Precision Blush (£11.99) is tapered and very soft – you can use it to apply both liquid and powder blushers, although it’s small enough to meet a variety of needs, such as powder, highlighter and even mineral foundation application.
003 – Powder Brush (£12.99) is a big and beautiful brush that feels soooo soft and lovely on the skin. Obviously it’s designed for all things powder, but because it’s quite light and soft, I’d say this is ideal for bronzer or a light layer of setting powder.
004 – Contour Brush (£11.99) – this angled brush is perfect for those who struggle with contouring and highlighting as it’s again, very soft, so you’d struggle to over-apply. I use this for highlighter as it gives such a soft, diffused finish.
005 – Shadow Brush (£9.99) – this brush provides a multitude of uses for all eye shadow needs, but I think it’s particularly useful for liquid and cream eyeshadow as it’s firm, but soft, so you get a really clean finish.
Finally there’s the Artist Essentials Kit (£16.99) which is your typically amazing Real Techniques set – I absolutely love the refreshed design of the brushes as I think they’re so pretty! This set contains five brushes: 217 – Expert Edge Large Brush, 421 – Soft Accent Brush, 420 – Spotlight Fan Brush, 317 – Smudge Liner and 425 – Lip Smudge Brush.
This is a fantastic set with extremely useful brushes; I particularly like the Lip Smudge Brush which I use for applying and blending product in the crease on the eye because it’s soft enough and blends really well. I also love the Smudge Liner for getting powder liner right into the lashes. Such a great set!
I love Real Techniques makeup brushes and sponges. They are fantastic quality and affordable.
