I thought I’d start with a nicely dramatic title, but honestly, the Allies of Skin skincare line is a range you definitely need in your life; think amazingly formulated, results-driven skincare that’s a joy to use and that has a strong cult status for the very reason that the small, yet perfectly formed, collection really does work. The range mostly focuses on serums with five in the collection so far, plus there’s a cleanser (that I really want) a mist and four products that are kind of like moisturisers, but they’re so packed full of skincare essentials that they go beyond your typically basic moisturiser, so I like to call them “finishing products” as they’re usually the final step in the routine.
I have three products from Allies of Skin, the 1A Retinal and Peptides Overnight Mask, the Molecular Saviour Probiotics Treatment Mist and the Prebiotics & Niacinamide Pore Refining Booster. The Retinal Overnight Mask was sent to me as a PR Sample. I used it three times before going online and ordering a back-up, then during the January Sales I ordered the other two products with a discount code from Cult Beauty.
Annoyingly and with great sadness, I had a lightbulb moment recently that all of the products I was using that were causing me to breakout had one ingredient in common, and that was Niacinamide. I’m absolutely gutted as both the AoS products I purchased are packed full of Niacinamide, an ingredient that is usually amazing for tricky skin like mine, but my skin just will not accept it and it causes breakouts. With that in mind, I can’t continue using the two AoS products I purchased, but I did give them a good go before I had my realisation, and the Prebiotics and Niacinamide Pore Refining Serum is just a total joy to use – it’s a really lovely, light serum that feels so calming on the skin, and I definitely noticed an evening of texture after just a few uses. The mist is the ideal sandwich product for giving your overall skincare routine a boost, ensuring hydrating products are given a real chance to do their thing.
The 1A Retinal and Peptides Overnight Mask is probably the most mind-blowing skincare product I’ve ever used (!!) and it’s amazing if you fall into that annoyingly tricky category of skin that’s breakout prone but not really that oily, a little dry and dehydrated in parts and in desperate need of some hydration and balancing. In fact, I would go as far as to say that Allies of Skin are actually the perfect skincare range if you fall into the above category (so basically fully fledged adult skin that’s prone to acne) as their formulations are so impressive and carefully considered. I won’t go into much more detail about the Retinal mask because I’m saving it for a full review which I’ll publish soon.
I received the Overnight Mask at the end of 2020 and it was very much one of my big finds of the year, having made such a huge impression in such a short space of time – I literally noticed a big difference after a single use, and as my skin is so hard to please, that really is saying something. Allies of Skin sit well and truly on the luxury end of the price point, with most products hitting around the £100 area, but you’re paying for the best ingredients used in the very best formulations that have been PH balanced to work optimally – this really is the perfect example of “you get what you pay for” – I have no issue at all spending a bit more on products if they actually work! Having said that, I realise it’s not always an option to spend such huge amounts, so they do have a sister brand that’s more affordable called PSA Skincare which you can find here – link.

Disclosure: Overnight Mask was a PR Sample, other two products were purchased by me
This is a brand that I definitely want to try this year. I’ve been wanting to try it for a while actually and have a little wishlist for when I’m ready to splurge! x

I loved the mask, though to me the Medik8 one is pretty similar and cheaper so I’ll go for that when it comes to repurchasing. Their mist is amazing though! I have the niacinamide but haven’t opened it yet – slightly cautious about it now!
