Bobbi Brown Crushed Shine Jelly Sticks

I’ve been lusting after the new Bobbi Brown Crushed Shine Jelly Sticks since I heard about them last year, as not only do I love Bobbi Brown (I’m sure I’ve banged on about it enough on here, but it was this very range that started my love affair with luxury make-up – I’m looking at you, Pink Quartz Shimmer Brick) but I also love, love, LOVE a tinted lip balm, which is basically what the Jelly Sticks are: well-pigmented, nourishing tinted lip balms, and what a joy they are.

The Bobbi Brown Crushed Shine Jelly Sticks are currently available in six shades:

Cranberry – a red-leaning brown

Honey – a beautiful beige with pink undertones (think you’re typically ‘wear with everything’ nude)

Candy Apple – a slightly pink-leaning red

Papaya – a bright orangey red

Tahiti – fairly bright pink

Lilac – cool toned pink

Obviously the two shades I zoned straight in on were Tahiti and Lilac, but Lilac just pipped it for me as I am suck a sucker for a cool-leaning pink and Lilac is a really beautiful take on such a colour.  Other than Cranberry, which a little too brown for my personal tastes, there isn’t actually a shade in there that I don’t like the look of, and as it’s in a buildable formula you could make any of these shades work at varying degrees of opacity.

The formula, as expected, is a total joy and exactly what you’d want from such a product.  Yes, it’s a tinted balm, but it’s so much more than that – it’s not quite a lipstick as it doesn’t have the density, but it happily and expertly straddles that bit in-between, giving just enough colour that can be built-up if you want more coverage, but also flooding lips with intense (yet not greasy) hydration that feels rich and buttery without any excessive slip, it’s just right.
