It’s Glossybox* time again! Glossybox April 2013’s box is designed by Pearl Lowe and follows a vintage theme, resulting in an extremely pretty, peach with white flowers design. Annoyingly, the black filler that they’ve used this month seems to have molted all over the products, which is why they all look a little grubby in the pictures!
The April Glossybox is optimistically themed around Spring, with various offerings that’ll help us get ready for lighter weather and showing more skin.
As usual, I’ll start with my favourites first:
Essie Nail Lacquer
I would imagine this will be the star of the box for a lot of people, as who can resist a bit of Essie? From what I can gather, there are 15 shades being circulated in this month’s boxes, meaning that we’ve all got a good chance of getting something a bit different. The shade I received is Sugar Daddy, a pale pink that I think would sit well within a French Manicure. I’m always happy to get pink nail varnishes so no complaints here. This is full size.
Nip+Fab Dry Skin Fix Body Butter
There are three choices being circulated this month; Mango, Pistachio and Coconut Latte and I received Mango in my box. Mango is a scent that can go so wrong, as it’s a such a strong-smelling fruit, but thankfully they’ve got it right in this Body Butter from Nip+Fab; it’s fruity but not overwhelmingly so meaning it’ll definitely be a product I’ll be using to sooth the dryness of my ever-expanding bump. This is a decent travel size at 50ml.
Balance Me Radiance Face Mask
Radiance is an attribute my face is sadly lacking at the moment, so anything that’ll help me with that is very welcome! I have a bit of a soft spot for Balance Me so I was pleased to see the inclusion of one of their products in this month’s box. At 15ml, the sample is a little on the mean side and I would imagine would only be good for at most two uses, but I’m still happy to give it a go and see what it’s like.
Richard Ward Optimiser Style Reviver
Is it just me, or does Optimiser Style Reviver sound like it could be the title of a 90’s dance track? Maybe something 2 Unlimited might sing…no? Just me? Okay. Here we have a fairly decent sample of a styling product from the man behind K-Middy’s mane. This product appears to be a bit of an all-in-one as it adds shine, boosts volume and revives tired styles, so I’m definitely looking forward to giving this a go and seeing how it performs. You get 50ml which is a third of the full sized product.
Yves Rocher Nutritive Vegetal 24H Comfort Nourishing Cream
There’s no reason for this Yves Rocher product to be at the bottom of my list other than the fact that it’s a bit ‘meh’ and doesn’t really inspire or excite at all. I’m sure it’s perfectly fine, but Yves Rocher are kind of becoming the 2013 answer to that Dead Sea Magik stuff that was showing up in every beauty box last year; nobody has any real interest in it and yet there it is…every month.
In conclusion, I’m not sure on this month’s box to be honest. All the ingredients are there – good bit of a varnish, face mask, lovely body butter – but it isn’t a box I want to rave about and coo over, I guess it’s lacking charisma for me. Ah well, you win some, you lose some. More info on Glossybox can be found here.
lovely box cant wait for mine to arrive now.
Hi,
I love your blog. Would you be interested in trading a UK for a US Glossybox now and then? Best, Mary
Glossy Box in UK is much better than here in Spain…I have just unsubscribed due to low quality of the products month by month…thanks for your blog. Just love it!
