I was really impressed with the Nicky Clarke Volume Kit I tried a few months ago (as a side-note, I let my mum try the kit and she’s now a total convert – she has very fine hair and this range is one of the few that actually made an impact) so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one of the new Diamond Shine products from Nicky Clarke. There are three in the Diamond Shine range, a Pro Salon Styling Wand, a Pro Salon Blow Dryer and the product featured here, the Pro Salon Straightener.
The Nicky Clarke Diamond Shine Pro Salon Straightener is beautifully presented in a white and brushed steel finish with additional diamante embellishment that makes the product look professional yet still girly. I have to say, I saw the images and thought all that white might be a bit tacky, but having the product in front of me it just looks clean and classic.
I don’t tend to straighten my hair much as I find straightening can pull my hair flat and make it look rather lank. Thankfully these straighteners glide through the hair rather than pull at it, meaning that if you have volume in your roots, you won’t be ironing it out as you often do with more traditional straighteners.
It has five heat settings and I went for number 3 which worked great at removing any kinks and flattening flyaways. I found this especially handy for a quick once over on any tricky, funky areas of hair – if you’re like me and fall asleep with wet hair in a ponytail then these will save you a lot of time and faff in the mornings.
Nicky Clarke is a premium range with premium price tags, so as you’d expect these straighteners don’t come cheap at just under £85, but they give great shine, are very easy to use and they look like they cost a lot, so they’re very much an investment gadget that is well worth it if you can afford it.
