I’ve never really got on well with heat protection sprays as I find they always weigh my hair down, but having had the chance to try Mark Hill’s version I’m pleased to report that it isn’t the case with this one.
The Oh, So Hot Heat Protection Spray is part of the Big Night Out collection, which is a range of products aimed at styling hair for nights out. The range includes things like a dry shampoo to take you from day to night hair in a hurry, a volumizing spray and mousse to boost volume, and most interestingly there’s also a set of a pre-styling shampoo and conditioner to prepare hair for styling. Everything in the line is built around the idea of making “big night out” hair easily achievable.
The Heat Protection Styling Spray comes in a typical pump action spray container. I personally prefer this to aerosols as you can control the amount of product more easily. I used this by distributing it evenly over damp hair and combing through before styling, but you can also use it more specifically on sections as you style or you can spray it all over your hair after styling for maximum hold making this a multi-purpose product.
When I’m in a hurry, I turn my hairdryer onto maximum and blast my hair to get it as dry as possible. Normally this results in my hair looking and feeling a little dry and frizzy, but after using this spray, my hair felt as if I’d let it dry naturally which is quite something. When I used this before styling with my Babyliss Big Hair Styler, it kept my hair especially smooth with no dryness, not even at the ends which often feel quite dry.
So it’s definitely a thumbs up from me, and for £6.29 this is a reasonably priced haircare product that delivers on its promises.

I definitely need to try this product. I have very frizzy, almost afro like hair which I hair dry every few days when I need to wash it, and that I straighten everyday. As a result it is now pretty damaged and breaking off. I will have to pick up some of this for sure, especially if it’s only £6.29.
This does exactly what it says on the tin and makes a huge difference at protecting hair from heat, so it’s definitely worth investigating if you use a lot of heat products xx
