Murad Skincare “The Game Changers”

A while ago, I was sent a lovely little delivery of four key Murad skincare products that were described in the press releases as “game changers” for various reasons, such as the fact that they offer something that goes a bit above and beyond your typical skincare.  The four products were excellent examples of Murad’s ability to provide phenomenal skincare to address a range of issues, but being a cocky cow, I decided to add in my own personal Murad Game Changer because, for me, it really deserves a spot!

First up is the Murad InvisiScar Resurfacing Treatment (starting at £35 for 15ml here – link) which is the perfect example to kick-off with as I can’t think of another product quite like this; it’s exactly as it sounds, an acid-led treatment designed to reduce the appearance of post-acne marks and scars, making everything look more even, plumper and generally improved.  I couldn’t use this as it upset my skin (remember, my skin is ridiculous and gets very easily upset for no apparent reason whatsoever) but the stats speak for themselves: in a clinical trial, after 8 weeks, 100% agreed that scar texture was smoother and 86% saw an improvement in the discolouration of the scars, which is incredibly impressive.  I also really like the fact that you can buy a 15ml bottle too, so that gives you a chance to try it before investing in a bigger bottle.

The Murad Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture (£65 for 50ml here – link) is a product I have a really soft (no pun intended) spot for as I remember having a terrible time with my skin (for a change!) and this was one of the only products that really helped, providing a deep hit of hydration without flooding it with pore-blockers and just making everything feel really calm and soothed.  I forgot all about this and was so happy to receive it again as it’s such a great moisturiser that you can really layer up until your skin feels like it’s got all the hydration it needs.  It also plays very well with make-up and SPF.  Speaking of SPF…

I am horrendously hard to please with SPF and I can love everything a brand and still hate their SPF because my skin is such a pain that I need one that’ll play well with my other skincare, sit nicely under make-up, and, most importantly, provide a seriously high protection level.  When I first tried the Murad City Skin Age Defense Broad Spectrum SPF50 (£60 for 50ml here – link) quite a while ago, I didn’t get on with it at all, but then I thought I should try it again recently just to see if my mind could be changed, and I’m so annoyed with younger me for not giving this more of a go as it’s so good! It means all my SPF criteria, it gives skin just a touch of glow (so great as a primer) without looking greasy and there’s just something about the way it feels on the skin; it’s like it’s really well balanced and reassuringly thick without being too unctuous.  I’ve been reaching for it regularly and I will continue to do so, particularly as it has such a high SPF.

For someone who is very happy to commit to extremely tedious skincare routines, you think I would be as equally fastidious with with my eye area, but I am rubbishly inconsistent.  However, the whole area is definitely looking in dire need of some TLC, so I’ll be adding the Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Eye Serum (£72 for 15ml here – link) into my routine soon, particularly as I like the fact that it’s designed for use on the lids as well as the under eye area as my lids are very suddenly looking rather lined – I think it’s because I haven’t worn much make-up for the last year, so when applying makeup and seeing it sink into all the lines, it’s quite shocking! I love the idea of this serum and I’ll do a follow-up review soon to share my thoughts.

Finally, my little add-in, the Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser (£38 for 200ml here – link), which I just had to include because this is one of my most used Murad products and I love everything about it.  I don’t really favour manual exfoliators much and I have a very small collection of them, but this one is just amazing at giving you that smooth, bright complexion that only comes from a bit of gentle scrubbing.  This product also contains a mix of acids, so my favourite way to use this is as a treatment, usually before a hydrating mask.  I apply it all over, leave it on for 15 or so minutes, lightly work it around, then go in with a hydrating mask and it really does give some serious glow, plus, skin is sooo smooth afterwards so great for a bit of a pre-event pamper!
