Bourjois released a beaut of a winter collection called Aristoclash, which focused on murky greys, deep violets and purples. The So Laque nail polish in Purple Fiction* focuses on the latter shades and is a moody, vampy take on navy-toned purple.
Purple Fiction is definitely a purple with blue leanings, although annoyingly my camera has picked up on more blue than is actually present. It’s a really deep shade that looks almost black in certain lights, kind of making this a purple take on the cult Rouge Noir.
Application was a bit startling at first, as I applied one coat that was very, very sheer. However, once I started on the second coat it all settled in and became completely opaque with an amazing glass-like, mirror finish. So mirror-like, in fact, that you can see me taking photographs reflected in some of the nails! This application is one base coat and two very thin layers of polish. Drying time was about average and the brush is medium-sized with a flat head making it really easy to get into edges and corners for a neat finish.
In conclusion, this is a lovely, wintery shade that I think looks great on my short nails (had to lop mine off as I’m craving my guitar too much and I can’t play it with long nails) but would really look amazing on longer nails too. Available now for £5.99 from all the usual stockists, and there’s currently a buy-one-get-one-half-price on Bourjois products at Boots.
