All kinds of crazy occurred when the new nude shades were added to the Illamasqua Glamore lipstick range – the brand’s first range of satin lipsticks – but at the same time with a lot less talk, there were four new shades added too, two of which I’m going to show you today. I have to say, I really love the way Illamasqua does pink – they do what I’d call “pink with an edge” which results in some seriously beautiful shades that aren’t overly girly or sickly sweet, so a total thumbs-up from me.
There are four new non-nude shades that have been added and these are Vampette – a deep, berry shade; Rockabilly – cherry red; and the two pinks which the brand describes as a rose pink in Kitsch and a cool pink in Pinkie. Having had a quick look on the site, there’s also another new shade called Virgin which appears to be a true red that looks absolutely gorgeous too.
I’ll say right away that Pinkie is an extremely tricky shade to wear that would suit someone who can pull-off very pale, chalky shades without looking like this:
Two words: “Josie Cunningham”. It is not a good look for me sadly, yet I can see this on someone considerably cooler who can take shades like this and make them look good, whereas sadly, Josie and I are not these types of people. Thankfully Kitsch is an absolutely gorgeous shade that has quite a bit of blue to make it very flattering for me and my pale skin:
What a difference a shade makes, eh? It’s a little bit berry in certain lights which also makes it an ideal shade to carry into autumn and it’s a firm favourite for me as it works really well at pulling together a laid-back make-up look. The Illamasqua Glamore lipsticks are £18.50 each.
