There are certain supplements that you can get away with spending very little on, such as Vitamin C (in my opinion!) but there are also ones that are really worth investing in. The Wiley’s Finest range of fish oils contain pretty much every kind of take on this Omega-rich supplement, providing a vast wealth of health and beauty benefits. I have the adult version of this which I’m trying to crack on with (I’m terrible with anything that tastes even a little bit off, and these bad boys are very fishy!) but today I’m sharing with you my thoughts on the Wiley’s Finest Beginner’s DHA Wild Alaskan Fish Oil for Children, which my son is speedily making his way through.
Firstly, I really like the way this is presented, with an easy-to-clean spoon (very important, since the fish oil is quite a strong colour) and a sheet of stickers to reward your little one each time he/she manages to stomach the fish oil without gagging. I’m very sensitive to taste, but my son can literally eat anything (although I will mention that this has been flavoured to reduce the fishy taste a little) so he doesn’t really react at all to the taste of this, even though I can smell it as I’m pouring it out and it’s pretty intense! The main reason I am giving him such a potent fish oil supplement is because I’ve read quite a few studies on the correlation between the consumption of a good quality fish oil and the reduction in allergy and asthma symptoms. My son doesn’t have asthma, but he does have quite a severe (and, as yet, undiagnosed) allergy to something in the air of the home we moved to two years ago, so I try everything I can to help reduce his symptoms. Interestingly, even though we’ve been on Omega supplements for a while, I do feel that his allergy symptoms have decreased since we started on this fish oil; in the last couple of weeks particularly, I’ve managed to remove one of his medications almost entirely, which is a huge step in progress. I can’t say for sure whether it’s this oil, but I haven’t changed anything else in his routine, so with that in mind, I’ll be repurchasing once we finish the bottle. Each bottle is £29.99 which is a lot, especially as you only get 25 servings in a bottle – what a random number! However, I still think it’s a worthy investment as it is clearly a quality product that is aiding Teddy’s health.
