After attending the LGFB event at Selfridges recently – blog report here – I developed a bit of a thing for Chanel lipsticks (any excuse) and when I got home I got my Google on and had a mooch around the Chanel website checking out their various ranges, before deciding that I wanted to purchase their Rouge Coco Shine in Boy….then I realised – I swear I’m not making this up – that the free lipstick I got with my goody bag was indeed Rouge Coco Shine in Boy. Seriously, it was a weird and wonderful revelation.

The texture of these lipsticks is just gorgeous. Soooo wonderfully creamy and they feel just like a lipbalm, however the colour payoff is surprisingly decent; you can easily take them from sheer to strong with a few strokes. I absolutely love them and I’m currently working on a way to justify purchasing more.
My lovely – or “long-suffering”, which is how he likes to be referred to since he’s my resident swatch canvas – boyfriend made a bet on the football over the weekend (scummy gambler) which he won a tidy sum from and decided to treat me to a new lipstick (genius, all-knowing, gambling king) so I frog-marched him down to the nearest Chanel counter and pointed out the one I wanted, which was Rouge Coco Shine in Royallieu.
To compare, Royallieu is a light, nude, peachy pink that is so incredibly pretty, I might have to marry it. It’s mildly shimmery but not enough to take away from the sweetness of the shade. Boy is slightly earthier, but still well in the pink area, just more of a formal pink, if that makes sense. Boy is good for looking polished so maybe a good colour for work, whereas Royallieu essentially needs to be worn at every other time possible, no matter what. I’m going to drain this lipstick, which isn’t great considering they retail at £23. Not cheap, but in my opinion a worthy spend for such a beautiful, flattering shade housed in a Chanel case, thus proving that a little bit of luxury goes a long way. Chanello!
So pretty, buying these is going to set me back quite a few $$, but totally worth it, after all, it’s Chanel!

So true! There’s something uplifting about applying lipstick housed in a Chanel case, which for me makes it worth spending a few more pounds, especially as the colours are so beautiful. Thanks for your comment 🙂 xx
