The newest addition to the Clinique foundation family is the Moisture Surge CC Cream Compact (or the Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream Compact Hydrating Colour Corrector SPF25 to give it it’s full and very catchy name) which is pretty much as the title suggests, an extremely hydrating CC Cream in compact form. It’s part of the Moisture Surge range which, if you’re unfamiliar, is a seriously good range of moisture-boosting products that spotty skin types can benefit from as they come in a wonderfully hydrating gel form that won’t upset the balance of oily and combination skins.
The Moisture Surge CC Cream Compact comes in six shades ranging from Very Light (my shade) to Deep which appears to be quite a dark shade so hopefully there’s a good shade match for most skin tones. You get 3.5g in the compact which has a decent sized mirror and a surprisingly good sponge which you can use to build up a good level of coverage. Having said that, the product isn’t designed for a high coverage finish and is more of a compact tinted moisturiser aimed at delivering a natural finish with an SPF25.
As you can see, it does a great job at covering my redness and leaves skin looking a lot more even whilst still maintaining a natural look. It’s brilliantly hydrating and blends seamlessly into the skin without looking caked or powdery. For a natural finish, I think it delivers a good, buildable coverage that I wasn’t expecting. I’d say it leans more dewy than matte, but thankfully doesn’t stray into greasy which a lot of hydrating bases can.
At the moment, the main issue with my skin is redness and acne scarring (I have a few surface spots but nothing too terrible) so this is ideal for me as it means I can apply it all over for a natural finish, then spot-conceal where I need any additional help. I find it really hard to find a hydrating base that doesn’t either give me spots or leave my skin looking like it’s swimming in oil, so if you have tricky, combination skin that is spot-prone but can look dry then here is your new saviour. I think very oily skin types would struggle with this, but oily, combination and any types that fall into the dry category will suit this perfectly. The Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream Compact is available now, both in store and online for £35 here – link.

good to read that it suits oily skin a bit
It’s a really good, balancing foundation which will work really well as long as you’re not too oily xx
